The following can be accepted by the Recycling Center, but please note that some recyclables must be dropped off at the Center (Materials that must be dropped off at Recycling Center are identified below). 

  1. Newspapers - Slick Inserts can be Included with the regular newspaper. Please don’t put loose newspapers at curbside.
  2. Glass - The type found In the kitchen: Jars, bottles, etc. BUT NO LIGHT BULBS. CRYSTAL, DRINKING GLASSES, WINDOW GLASS, MIRRORS. OR HIGH TEMPERATURE GLASS (PYREX, FOR EXAMPLE). Rinse out and throw away lids and caps.
  3. Aluminum Cans - No aluminum foil or aluminum foil products can be accepted at this time. Please rinse out cans.
  4. Food Cans. - Remove all food and rinse well. They collect bugs In storage, and stink a little, too.
  5. Plastic -Only numbers 1 (PET) and 2 (HDPE). These numbers are located on bottom of containers. NO OTHER PLASTICS (NUMBERS 3 Through 7) MAY BE RECYCLED AT THIS TIME. Some acceptable plastics: soft drink bottles, water bottles, milk jugs. laundry detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, margarine tubs and other plastic containers with the number 1 or 2 on the bottom. RINSE OUT AND THROW AWAY CAPS AND LIDS.
  6. Corrugated Cardboard - Either delivered to Recycling Center or set on curb. If at curbside, make sure It’s not set out on a rainy day.
  7. Cereal Boxes, Laundry Detergent Boxes, Cracker Boxes and the like. - Please remove liners.  But no soft drink or beer containers. These have been treated to withstand wet, cool conditions. This treatment makes them unrecvclable.
  8. Junk Mail -   And you get a good bit of this every day. Yes, we will accept window envelopes.
  9. Office Paper - Computer paper, white and colored bond, notebook paper, and all other types of office paper (Keep computer paper separated from other paper). We cannot accept NCR-type paper: the kind that makes its own carbon copy. Throw away paper clips or other metal fasteners. Staples are OK.
  10. Magazines and Catalogs - There are a lot of these In the mail. Recycle them. if you have a lot. Try to drop them off at the Recycling Center. The reason? The bags break open when the bags are picked up. Use your judgment.
  11. Telephone Books.
  12. Hardcover and Paperback Books  (If too many or too heavy for curbside bags. please bring to the  Recycling Center). Remember, the bags have to be picked up and loaded onto the recycling vehicle.
  13. Car, Truck, Farm Equipment, and Garden Equipment Batteries These must be delivered to the  Recycling Center
  14. Used Motor, Hydraulic, and Automatic Transmission Oil - Must be delivered to Recycling Center
  15. White Goods - Stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners, refrigerators, and the like.  Must be delivered to Recycling Center.
  16. Textiles and Shoes - Curtains, drapes, towels, pants, shirts, dresses, blouses, skirts, underwear, etc. and shoes of any kind (must be a pair). Fabrics do not have to be separated (all In one bag). Shoes should be put In separate bag. Note: Don’t give us clothing that would normally go to a charitable organization. Fabrics and shoes can go on curbside (if you have pickup). otherwise drop them by the Recycling Center.

The above materials are currently accepted by the Versailles-Woodford County Recycling Center. Please don’t give us anything else. AND, PLEASE, NO GARBAGE MEDICAL WASTE OR ANY OTHER MATERIAL NOT LISTED ABOVE.
